Why December Is the Most Important Month for New Affiliates (And the Silent Advantage No One Talks About)
Ten years ago, I did the least amount of work in December. I had a job, we had Christmas, birthdays, family events, and the whole month felt like a write off. Three years ago that began shifting when I started my online journey in 2022. Last December we had just arrived in Costa Rica at the end of November 2024, and I spent more time watching movies than building anything.
This December is different. Since flying back to Costa Rica in October, I have not taken my foot off the gas pedal and I do not intend to until January hits.
How My December Mindset Flipped
I remember plenty of Decembers where money stress and job stress were the core theme. I also realized I do not even like Christmas that much, partly due to spending more than seven years in retail. Once you survive enough Christmas rushes from behind a counter, the magic fades pretty fast.
That perspective opened my eyes. December did not need to be about maxing out cards and drowning in events. It could be a month for building online and choosing more intentional family time instead of buying more things.
One of the biggest mindset shifts came from attending the GO PRO event with Eric Worre a few years ago. The message that stuck was simple. December is not a throwaway month. It is a competitive advantage because almost nobody uses it properly.
What December Looks Like For Me Right Now
As of December 6th, my schedule looks like this. Wrap up a pile of long overdue projects. I have dozens of micro projects that are technically done, and now it is about aesthetics and maintenance. Funnel tightening, layout cleanup, content organization.
On nice days, or when screens start melting my brain, we unplug with a hike or a local tour. Yesterday I did my first hanging bridge walking tour in Costa Rica. Totally different world.
This is year four of a full build December. It feels like a major shift will hit in 2026 because my organic traffic is reaching that tipping point. You can feel it warming up.
Every day looks similar. My brain goes to sleep thinking about tasks. I wake up and execute them. The workload sometimes feels extreme, but I pull through. If a project takes three days instead of one, so be it.
Why December Gives You A Silent Advantage
1. Your competition is asleep at the wheel
Most creators slow down in December. They disappear on social. They stop publishing. They wait for January. You only need moderate consistency during this month to stand out.
2. January’s audience is already warming up
January is a historic peak for search terms like “start an online business”, “how to make money online”, and “side hustle ideas”. If your December content exists, they will find you instead of someone else.
3. Momentum compounds faster during quiet seasons
December is when you decide if you enter January in motion or stuck at day zero trying to rebuild habits.
What I Am Actually Doing This December For 0 to 100K
I am currently in Week 11 of the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp. The focus is on narrowing into specific audiences and continuing ad testing. The main issue this week was Facebook forcing account re authentication, which wasted time, but it is fixed now.
My three December priorities:
- Keep publishing content for this site.
- Review and remix previous ads to see which ones can be revived.
- Implement site updates as they come.

Proof That The Work Compounds
One of the best examples came from a client project for FlyFishCR.com. I applied the same Wealthy Affiliate training to a completely different niche. Here is one targeted ad:
I am confident one of those conversations converted into a booking, and another is highly possible. Same training. Different niche. Real results.
What Is Not Working Yet
Pinterest organic traffic. I am disconnected from it and it is a January project.
How Wealthy Affiliate Changed My December
The Bootcamp keeps me busier than usual. There is always another angle, another test, another piece to build. The Image Studio tool inside WA has been the biggest upgrade this season.

Wealthy Wednesdays Collaboration
This December I also began collaborating with another WA member. We launched a weekly live show called Wealthy Wednesdays.

Your December Fork In The Road
The calendar has 365 days. You are either staring at one day or deciding that today is day one. That is the choice.
If we talked on January 1st, I would want you to be able to say you stayed committed this month. Not perfect. Just committed.

December Affiliate Marketing FAQ
Why is December such an important month for new affiliates?
December is when most creators stop publishing. Competition drops and reach becomes cheaper. Meanwhile, January brings a surge of people searching for ways to start an online business. If you spend December building assets and systems, those people discover you instead of someone else.
What should beginners focus on in December?
Build your foundation. Set up your site, pick your audience, and publish your first posts. Learn keyword research and apply it. If you are following along with Wealthy Affiliate, December is the perfect time to work through the training while the world is quiet.
Can I make progress in December with limited time?
Yes. You do not need full workdays to build momentum. Even twenty to thirty minutes per day compounds quickly in December because most people are doing nothing. One article, one improvement, or one ad test per day moves you forward.
How is Wealthy Affiliate helping you this month?
The Bootcamp gives me structured weekly tasks and clear direction. The Image Studio tool inside WA speeds up creative production dramatically. Instead of guessing, I follow a roadmap and apply the actions directly to my niche.
What if I miss December? Is January too late?
January is not too late. December simply gives you leverage because fewer people are working. But any day you choose can be day one. The main point is to start building consistent action instead of waiting for the perfect moment.
